Republic Day is just a couple of months away.

Here is a poem penned around Independence Day a couple of years ago.

AN ODE TO INDIA'S PARADOXES!

Our country India is a land of pleasant and unpleasant paradoxes!

Paradox 1
----------
Mera Bharat Mahaan
Maa Tujhe Salaam
[Yet..the two sexes are not equal!]

Paradox 2
----------
We are a poor country of rich people or We are a rich country of poor people
We are definitely a rich country of rich people, when the valuation is on CULTURE,HOSPITALITY,PIETY,PATIENCE,WISDOM,TOLERANCE,SPIRITUALITY,CUISINE,ARTS,CRAFTS,COUTURE,LANGUAGE,UNITY_IN_DIVERSITY,Climate,DREAMS....(i think ive exhausted the dictionary!)......

Yet..is it ALL ABOUT MONEY, HONEY?

Paradox 3
-----------
Less than 50% of Indians Vote
To elect a Govt. by Majority...
Thats the world's greatest DemoCRAZY! this spelling error is intentional!

Yet we can set our foot down on WTO,
Our people power is the greatest market for the world,
We can ban world's largest FMCG products...
We are neither the land of rising sun or setting sun,
coz its the land of shining sun or SON!

Paradox 4
----------
We Welcome all that is new and modern,
We Treasure all that is old and (golden)tradition
!

Paradox 5
----------
We create great fusion,
Yet at individual level there so much confusion!

Paradox 6
----------
We patriotically and passionately fight for our right..
The weapon we use is AHIMSA ..plain and simple
might!

Paradox 7
-----------
We worship the power of SHAKTI!
We think women need to be protected! FROM WHOM?
We think women need reservation!

Paradox 8
----------
We say "Children are a gift of GOD"
We dont hesitate to employ a child to serve us!

Paradox 9
----------
With Rakesh Sharma, we conquered space,
Yet for most Indians, in India, for a home, there is not much space!

Paradox 10
----------
Over 60% of our people are employed in growing food
Just the same is busy craving for food!
even after 60 years of seemingly independent independence!

Paradox 11
-----------
An Indian in a foreign land achieves laurels, yet is a second class citizen there!
We give a red carpet welcome..to every Tom,Dick,Harry (any denizen) with a fair skin!

Paradox 12
-----------
In great metros of India...

We crib that the system is corrupt..that the system is inefficient..blah..blah..blah.

Yet..when u wake up in the morning....
-> there is water running from the tap
-> ur newspaper waits to be fondled by your eyes
-> the milkman is at your door..clockwork precision.
-> by and large u reach ur office on time.thnx to Ind.Rail or BEST or a cabbie or a..whatever..is..working ..fine
-> the dabbawala delivers your lunch to you in perfect timing..even 6 sigma..
-> u can talk to a friend at the click of a button...
-> ur nearby retailer is always there to serve u at a phone call..
->..so on and on...
All works in pre=planned precision!

Paradox 13
----------
We gave the World Great Leaders..
We are the Worlds Greatest Followers, too!

Paradox 14
----------
The Rest of the World comes to The Himalayas for Spirituality!
We go to the Rest of the World for Materiality!

Paradox 15
-----------
We gave the world the power of ZERO..POOJYAM
We gave the world the power of the DECIMAL..ANSH
Why do most of us decimate ourselves to nothing!

Paradox 16
----------
We speak of Gurus Teachers Mentors with utmost reverance ..
Yet this lot of people who carve futures have uncertain futures!
Coz in the whole scheme of things...they get the worst lot!

Paradox 17
----------
We export all that is our best at prices that are the lowest..
We import most that is the worst at prices that are also worst..

Paradox 18
-----------

We say: Satyameya jayate..in the long run...

We probably believe so much in forgiveness...
That the pending cases in our Courts would reach the GUINESS!

Paradox 19
----------

Said Murphy in one of his cartoons :
The rich get richer and the poor get children!

"Our Garibi Hatao" andolan...
The rich get richer and the poor gets eliminated!period.

Paradox 20
-----------
...... ;-(
,,,,,, :-)

Happy independence day...Start LIVING!

A Prayer to Bharat Mata on her 67th Independence Day

 A Prayer to Bharat Mata

Vande Mataram

Wishing  you peace and glory on your 66th Anniversary of Freedom from colonialism.

One of the world’s oldest nations, Bharat Mata,

You nurture a cultural diversity,

Rich traditions and values nestled in your fold,

Wondering how to resolve the dilemma of the current times,

How to use Freedom with responsibility,

Making good governance possible,

Preventing degradation in values which formed the basis of our motherland’s rich history and tradition.

The current generation is caught at the crossroads of blending Western culture with native culture en route their journey of progress.

Dear Motherland,  hope the magic happens: Empower  your citizens to  rise above all this confusion and  become worthy citizens of their motherland now and forever.

Jai Hind

THE 5A PRINCIPLE TO HAPPINESS

Dear friends, This framework is the outcome of the thoughts which rushed into my mind and my experiments with my self during my healing phase after a brain tumour surgery on May 21, 2011. I penned it down on August 8, 2011 after the last radiation therapy session.
THE 5A PRINCIPLE TO HAPPINESS :):):):)

1A
ASK
When   we  need something from someone, please ask very clearly what we want.Pl write it down and proof read before signing off .
This is probably the ROLE OF PRAYER when we ask the Almighty something.
Caution: Be reasonable in what we ASK. and be prepared to work for it. Ask oneself  if we really deserve it and answer this question honestlyJ

2A
ACCEPT
Humbly Accept what we get in return. Do not crib or evaluate here.
3A
APPRECIATE
Appreciate what we get and let the Giver know that we appreciate it.
4A
ACKNOWLEDGE
Acknowledge what we receive by giving something  in return. Otherwise it becomes a parasitic relationship and will not   be sustainable.
5A
APOLOGISE
The moment  we sense we are at fault for something, gear up the courage to Aplogise clearly to the concerned person.
The ability to say SORRY is a major source to eliminate waste and keep the Happiness in our life eternally.

This could be the 5A principle of HAPPINESS in our life. JJJJJ

ON GIVING

On GIVING :

Nature, and its constituents like flora and fauna and other natural phenomena are all wired to GIVEJ A tree gives shade, its flowers and fruits during its life time and gives itself to nature after death! The food chain has a Giving Chain!!! With the Humans simply sitting at the top!!!!  The Giving process here is part of Nature’s DNA and it is always out of default and not out of choice!

The human species is fortunate to have been gifted with the ability to think, the ability to choose, the ability to distinguish between right and wrong and the ability to laugh. Indeed a human being  who is aware of these endowments and consciously deploys these in his/her living, will find success and happiness. Sharing or Giving to the deserving,  is also an ability exclusively gifted only to the human species.

Those with resources in abundance of more than what they need to live, have but two choices, “GIVING”  part of the surplus to the needy or simply hoarding it selfishly with themselves. However, if Giving were easy,  the world would have been a much better place today. It probably is a good topic for researchers to study the DNA, attributes and traits of
 a. those human being to whom “GIVING” comes very easily without any extrinsic motivation,
 b. those to whom “GIVING”  comes from extrinsic motivation like tax benefits and
 c. those to who can Give but just don’t Give!!!

Further, Giving money or other material resources for a cause is probably a much easier option than Giving TIME, because the responsibility in the former ends with signing the cheque! However Giving TIME to a cause is a need in today’s world. The values of caring and sharing and  investing  one’s time for a cause requires high level of commitment, passion and determination. The currency here is TIME, Giving Quality TIME to those in need of it.  It is the need of the hour, when the gap between the haves and the have-nots, is widening and is the major cause of increasing instances of crime in society, across the world.

A better tomorrow, a better world will be possible not only by improvement in technology or by sharing surplus wealth, but also by investing Time and Patience with the underprivileged and disseminating the HOPE FOR A BETTER Life for every member of the human species. Education systems in their content and process may include sensitivising students to living lives which make this Green Planet a better living place for generations to come and ensure the healthy longevity of the human species in the Universe. It is not only the onus or responsibility of Governments and Commercial Corporations to make this happen. It is the responsibility of every human being to appreciate their purpose on this Planet and contribute their bit towards making this Planet a better home for all its stakeholders for a long time to come.

Questions from the next generation to this generation

Questions of the next generation to this generation.

1. Will we have safe air to breathe?
2. Will we have safe water for our needs?
3. Will we have a conducive climate for living healthily?
4. Will we have enough natural resources to meet our needs?
5. Will we be safe within the boundaries of our nation as well as beyond?
6. Will we have good memories to pass on to the future generations?
7. Will we inherit a peaceful Planet to bequeath it to the future generations?
8. O Policy Makers of this generation, we request you to answer these questions and help us feel secure about our future and the future of the generations to follow.........
9. People, Planet and Peace  can be secured and nourished and sustained...only if Policy and Practice appreciate the need for this and formulate and implement Policies in the right Perspective to Preserve the home of mankind for a long time to come.
10. Lets Promise ourselves to help achieve the objective mentioned in 9 above and the others in points 1 to 8 above...by doing whatevever we can right from NOW:)

Thank you.
